THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA ON ICE ACT BY ACT

OVERTURE: Dance of the Four Muses

The Composer, having been inspired by the muses of Darkness, Despair, Beauty and Purity, has just finished his New Opera. Exhausted he falls asleep. His rival, the sinister Rubatutto, lover of the Diva Carlotta, steals his manuscript. As he escapes, the Composer awakes, they struggle, and a gas lamp is smashed - leaving the musical genius engulfed in flames and disfigured....

ACT ONE: The Paris Opera House

During the Gala Performance of the New Opera (stolen from the Composer), the Diva Carlotta is leading but, suddenly upset, she leaves the stage. Christine, a young and gifted chorus girl is persuaded to take her role : Notte D'Amore. Believing she is alone, Christine dances with joy : Could this be Love. Watching in the audience is Raoul, an Army Officer, who recognises Christine as his childhood sweetheart : Born to Love You followed by The Magic Piano and the Enchanted Violin. The Company are preparing for the next performance with the reinstated Carlotta much to Christine's anguish : The Lady and the Mask. Suddenly, out of the darkness, a voice gives a terrible warning. Carlotta and Rubatutto decide to perform against The Phantom's wish : Il Bel Canto. As the lighting fails and confusion takes hold, the Phantom appears, interrupts the performance and lures Christine away: Phantom's Drama.

ACT TWO The Phantom's Lair

Underneath the Paris Opera House, Mr and Mrs Midnight await the arrival of their Master. The Phantom returns with the unconscious Christine to leave her in the care of his underworld friends : Mr Midnight. Christine awakes startled and afraid. Mr and Mrs Midnight reassure her : Endlessly. The Phantom returns to tell Christine that he wants to help and guide her to become a great singer. Intrigued, she tears off his mask ... disturbed she makes her escape : The Lady and the Mask. Christine arrives with her friend Meg to lay flowers at her father's grave : Ora Pro Nobis. Christine is lost in her thoughts as The Phantom watches unseen : Angel of Music. Christine is joined by Raoul who comforts her : Born to Love You. Christine leaves and Raoul is attacked and knocked unconscious by The Phantom : Face behind the Mask. The Phantom departs and Raoul is revived by Rubatutto. Along with theatre friends they chase after The Phantom : The Chase. Christine arrives unseen at The Phantom's lair where he is seeking solace in his music : Phantom's Despair. The Phantom is visited by the four muses : Don't Despair.

ACT THREE The Paris Opera House

At the traditional Paris Masked Ball there is a surprise guest : Parisian Masquerade. The mysterious guest lures Christine away from Raoul. Rubatutto is watching : Red Masked Waltz. As Raoul and Rubatutto are searching for Christine, they become trapped in a chamber and are attacked by ghostly figures. They are overcome : Mr Midnight. The Phantom asks Christine to share her life with him. Christine must decide : Angel of Music. As the choice is made, and the lovers leave, The Phantom is broken-hearted : When Love Was Born. The Phantom is carried away by his underworld friends. Mr & Mrs Midnight settle the score with Rubatutto : The Phantom's Theme. Christine and Raoul's wedding is blessed by a mystical figure : Wedding Symphony.
